#15 What You Discover by Touching It

At Wa-modern N6 Kitamaruyama,
we have previously offered opportunities to experience Japanese culture
through tea ceremonies and kimono dressing experiences.

Starting this spring,
the range of experiences has expanded even further.

Sake tasting, Kumiko coaster making, and Koto and calligraphy experiences are now available.

Also, professional photography has been newly added.

Through sake tasting,
you can discover how the taste changes with different sake cups.

Through Kumiko coaster making,
you can experience the delicacy of artisan techniques and the difficulty of craftsmanship.

Through Koto and calligraphy experiences,
you can delve into the profoundness of Japanese culture.

By actually experiencing these,
you can encounter fascinations that might have gone unnoticed by simply looking at the works.

I personally tried making a Kumiko coaster,
and was surprised at how much more difficult it was than I expected.

Kumiko is a technique where intricate wooden pieces
are assembled to create patterns.

Each component is angled,
and so delicate that it can easily break if forced into place.

I was once again reminded of how intricate the craftsmanship behind the everyday beauty of Kumiko truly is.

Additionally, the newly added photography service
can be used not only as a memento of your trip,
but also to capture family milestones or kimono portraits.

Preserving your time and experiences at Wa-modern
in the form of photographs
is another unique way to enjoy this place.

We are expanding our experiences
because we want people to feel a closer connection to crafts and Japanese culture.

To actually see,
touch,
and taste.

During that time,
we hope you can connect with the techniques, culture,
and sentiments behind the works.

We would be delighted if Wa-modern N6 Kitamaruyama
could be an entrance to such encounters.
