Fukui Prefecture, where Echizen Yosegi - tata - is located, is famous for its eyeglasses industry, which boasts a 96% share of domestic production.
We wondered if Echizen Yosegi could do something to support the eyeglasses industry, so we created an eyeglass stand.
In keeping with Echizen Yosegi, several types of wood are tightly packed together to create a stylish pattern.
We have created a cute glasses stand that can also be used as interior decoration in the bedroom or living room.
Blends into your daily life and adds color to your life.
Please enjoy a wonderful time among the trees that have been given new life.
Workshop Introduction
Workshop Introduction
Mr. Itaru Tanabe, who runs a large carpentry business in Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture, began making chairs and accessories during the seasons when he was not working at the construction site, at the request of his wife. As he faced wood that he had previously discarded and breathed new life into it, he became absorbed in the process, saying, "It's surprisingly interesting."
Large scraps, small pieces of wood, we create one-of-a-kind products by interacting with each piece and making the most of the texture of the wood. That is Echizen Yosegi - tata-.
